Add to Calendar 2019-04-11 15:00:00 2019-04-11 17:00:00 Updating Floodplain Regulations Stakeholder Meeting Room 809, Raleigh, NC 27601 City of Raleigh Ben Brown, PE America/New_York public

Stakeholder Meeting

We are looking at options to improve the City’s floodplain regulations. These changes will reduce flooding impacts and safety concerns in Raleigh, particularly for floodprone areas near streams and creeks that are expected to flood during large rain storms. We’ll look at:

  • What can be built in the floodplain;
  • How we can improve buildings that are in the floodplain and are not built to current flood regulations;
  • Access to structures when it floods; and,
  • Flood study requirements.

At this meeting, a stakeholder group will help us review potential changes and exemptions to floodprone regulations. Members of the public are invited to attend

Meetings will be held for the next four-six months. The first meeting was on April 11. Final meeting agenda.

Recommendations from the group will be shared with the Stormwater Management Advisory Commission. After the Commission reviews the group’s recommendation, they will send their decision to Raleigh City Council. If approved, the recommendations will go through the ordinance process, which includes public hearings.
