UPDATE: This event has been postponed until further notice.
We are having a drop-in style meeting on March 24, regarding the 2-way conversion and bike and pedestrian improvements proposed for the Blount Street and Person Street corridors.
Please drop in and see the concepts we are exploring as part of the project. The meeting is an excellent opportunity to have your voice heard during the design process.
This is a kid-friendly meeting with activities planned just for them.
The proposed project will convert the entire Person St corridor from one-way operation to two-way operation.
Sections of Blount St will also be converted to two-way operation. The streets between Edenton St and Delway St and the streets between Hammond Rd and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (MLK Blvd) are planned to become two-way streets. The Section between MLK Blvd and Edenton St is planned to stay in a one-way configuration to better serve the planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
Other features of the project include:
- A fully protected bike facility;
- A Roundabout at the Brookside Dr, Wake Forest Road, and Automotive Way intersection;
- A roundabout at the Delway St, Blount St, Person St, and Wake Forest Rd intersection; and,
- Roadway realignment or a roundabout at the Blount St, Person St, Hoke St, and Hammond Rd intersection.
