Tired of places that are not safe or comfortable for walking or biking?
Let's plan a safer, low-carbon future where healthy, human-powered ways of getting around are prioritized!
Featuring guest speaker Angie Schmitt, who will talk about lessons learned in her book “Right of Way: Race, Class, and the Silent Epidemic of Pedestrian Deaths in America.”
The event, which will include a focus on New Bern Avenue but consider solutions that apply citywide and beyond, includes two main parts:
- 1-2 p.m. Hear from Schmitt and other speakers on how pedestrian safety is getting worse, and how communities are getting bolder in tackling the issue.
- 2:15-4 p.m. Advance your own ideas in a group discussion, then determine a course of action.
