Explore the Greener Transportation Options

See how the City is working to achieve its goal of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Changing how we move around the city is the first step to reducing those emissions and promoting a greener future. The City’s broad strategies are designed to affect community equity, resilience and safety through increased mobility and access.

GoGreen will showcase many of the City’s environmentally friendly fleet vehicles and debut the NEW GoRaleigh Electric Buses. You will have the chance to explore a GoRaleigh electric bus, compressed natural gas (CNG) bus, ride a Citrix Cycle, try out a Bolt, Lime and Spin scooter and more!

Sustainability Panel

The Office of Sustainability is hosting a live panel discussion that will highlight transportation strategies in the Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP).

In 2019, Raleigh’s City Council established a goal of reducing community wide GHG emissions 80 percent by 2050. CCAP was developed with the help of experts, leaders, community organizations and City staff. The Plan includes strategies to reduce at Raleigh’s highest sources of emissions: Transportation, Energy in Buildings and Waste. These strategies include transitioning to electric vehicles and reducing vehicle miles traveled.

This panel discussion will give the community a chance to ask questions about importance of transportation to our climate goals and what the City is doing to help residents take action.

Raleigh Water is also playing a huge part in the City’s environmental stewardship. Their Bio-energy Recovery Project will fuel 50 GoRaleigh buses daily with CNG. The new facility will produce green energy, allowing the City to make great strides in moving towards reducing its GHG emissions and meeting its sustainability goals.
