Join the Bluebirders of Wake County for this interactive, educational bluebird program!
In 1998, 7 nest boxes were installed at Mordecai Historic Park, and eastern bluebirds have been nesting there ever since, providing visitors with a touch of beauty and sweet songs. To ensure that the bluebirds will always have a home at Mordecai, the Bluebirders of Wake County have carefully monitored and maintained the nest boxes throughout the years.
Learn their secrets so that you too, can bring bluebirds to your backyard or neighborhood! Marti Kane, a Wake Bluebirder and member of the NC Bluebird Society, will explain the essentials of how to attract bluebirds or other cavity-nesting songbirds and how to protect them from pests and predators. After the talk, participants will go outside to explore the bluebird boxes, learn how to safely monitor them, and hopefully see bluebirds and other common birds in the park. Come with all your questions! Register online using RecLink.
Please arrive at the Mordecai Visitor Center 15 minutes before your tour time. Wellness checks and face coverings will be required. This program will follow all local and state guidelines regarding COVID safety protocols.
