To test the design concepts and get community feedback, a temporary bike lane will be in place from May 1 - May 8.
Come take a ride anytime on either day at the S. State Street bike pop-up! You can ride the pop up anytime the first weekend in May, but if you’d like to talk to city staff members or need a bicycle, visit
the Walnut Creek Wetland Center on Sunday, May 2 from 1 -3pm.
And we'd love to hear from you! Please take a minute to complete our quick survey on proposed State Street changes. Take our survey!
Try a Citrix Cycle bikeshare e-bike!
Adults may register for a test ride online or stopping by the Citrix Cycle station at Walnut Creek Wetland Center from 1 – 3 pm on May 2. We will also have balance bikes available for young children to ride.
State Street between Peterson Street and Bunche Drive, is being considered for a two-way cycle-track on the east side along the Raleigh Correction Center property. Flexible delineators and green intersection markings would connect the Biltmore Hills neighborhood and destinations south of I-40 with the Walnut Creek and House Creek greenways as well as downtown Raleigh.
By narrowing the travel lane and installing stop signs, traffic speeds could be reduced. Stop signs on State Street at Peterson Street and at Bunche Drive are part of the proposed project. Installation of this facility is not scheduled at this time although it remains a priority project in the 2016 BikeRaleigh Plan Update.
