Before You Start Submittal Requirements Expected Processing Time

A taxi dispatch stand is a location where taxicabs are temporarily stored during hours of operation and from which they are dispatched. Taxi dispatch stands are allowed in the following zoning districts CX, DX, IX, IH, CMP, UDO 6.4.8 defines use as a Passenger Terminal.

Taxi cab operation is regulated by City of Raleigh City Code sections 12-2021 through 12-2100.

Before You Start

Anyone wishing to erect a taxi dispatch stand must obtain a zoning verification letter prior to initiating the permit process with the Raleigh Police Department.

Submittal Requirements

Type Description
Required for Submittal
  • Completed Taxi Dispatch Stand application (pdf)
  • If approved, staff will generate a letter confirming zoning approval for the requested location
  • Submittal packages should be delivered via email to downtownDS@raleighnc.gov.
Required for Some Projects
  • Copy of lease agreement including complete address, name and signature of property owner

Expected Processing Time

Applications submitted prior to 4 p.m. will be processed the next business day. Applications submitted after 4 p.m. will be processed within two business days.
