Summary
- The City of Raleigh is searching for artists to create fun and innovative art happenings during community events
- Possibilities could include but are not limited to: Art installations, performance, make & take activities, environmental artwork, mini-murals, face-painting, projection, and other interactive/fun ways to engage the public.
- Artists will also be asked to share handouts and info about the upcoming Raleigh Public Art Plan.
- Up to six artists/artist teams may be selected to create happenings in June and July and all applicants will be included on a roster for future projects.

Eligibility
Eligibility is open to artists, 18 years of age or older, residing, working, exhibiting or attending school in the Triangle Area.
Project Details
Raleigh Arts is looking to hire artists to create fun art activities or art installations that engage the public as part of the new Public Art Plan roll-out. Artists are encouraged to submit ideas that will draw in the public and residents.
In addition to creating artwork and/or art activities, Artists will also be asked to also share information with the public about the Raleigh Arts Plan. This could include handing out flyers, talking briefly about the plan, and sharing contact info for Raleigh Arts Staff.
Up to six artists may be selected to create happenings in June/July and all applicants will be included on a roster for future projects.
Things to Keep In Mind
- Most of the events will occur outdoors and on weekends
- Your hourly fee should include the cost of any additional helpers you might need to hire
- Plan to bring your own tent/shelter for outdoor events or coordinate with us in advance for how to borrow the Raleigh Arts Tent
- Think about how you can include handouts, City of Raleigh supplied signage, and talk with folks about the Public Art Plan as part of your event

Deadline
All application materials must be received no later than May 23, 2022. Incomplete or late submittals will not be considered.
How to Apply
Those wishing to be considered must submit the following materials online:
- Very Rough Proposal
A short 200 word (or less) written statement explain what type of art happening/activity you would like to create. You will have time to more fully flesh this out if you are paired with a specific date/event. - Hourly Rate or Per-Event Cost
List your hourly rate (keep in mind that this should cover the cost for your time as well as any other additional folks you need to hire as part of the event), OR alternatively you can list your per-event cost. - Supply Costs
Estimate your costs to purchase supplies for the event (art materials, water, tablecloths, printing costs etc.) If you are selected, you will have the opportunity to submit a finalized budget. - Previous Work, Digital Images
Three digital images of recent work. Each image should include: title, year, media, location, project budget, dimensions, commissioning agency, and collaborators or design professionals (if applicable).
