Nominations and Artists Sought for Sir Walter Raleigh Awards

Appearance Commission seeking entries for 42nd annual awards

Now through August 8 at 5 p.m., the Appearance Commission will accept nominations to recognize individuals and projects that improve the design of our city for this year's Sir Walter Raleigh Awards. The Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Community Appearance recognizes new contributions that enhance the character, environment, and appearance of the City of Raleigh. The award categories include Residential, Commercial, Rehabilitation/Historic Preservation, Public Facilities, Public Spaces, Landscape Design, Community Impact, and Educational.

In addition to the nominations, there is an open call for artists interested in designing the 2022 Sir Walter Raleigh Awards certificate. The selected designer will receive recognition at this year’s event to be held in October.
