The City of Raleigh appreciates the continued interest in the Convention Hotel and Downtown Development Project. The City contracted with Jones Lang LaSalle, Inc. (JLL) to manage the Request for Interest (RFI) process. As part of the process, JLL has communicated with many developers on this project over the past several weeks. Based on the feedback received, and given the RFI issuance date was approximately three months ago and the original deadline was extended, it was determined that no further extensions will be needed. Therefore, the RFI deadline for submissions of interest on this project remains May 1, 2020.
Respondents are reminded that one electronic copy of the RFI response is due via email to the address below by 5:00 PM on May 1, 2020 with the subject line “Raleigh Convention Hotel RFI Response.”
Clearly, these are uncertain times, and while the City of Raleigh remains excited about the potential Convention Hotel and Downtown Development Project, the City is currently focused on providing services to assist the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the virus has impacted private and public budgets including the City’s. With the priorities of aiding community health, providing essential services, and addressing budget issues, the City cannot commit to a definitive schedule to: evaluate the submittals of interest, shortlist the developers, prepare and issue a Request for Proposal, and/or negotiate with the selected developer. The City asks for patience and flexibility, as the process is expected to take longer than originally envisioned. Moreover, changes to City project goals, process and financial assistance could occur. JLL and the City will continue to use this page to communicate any changes and updates on the process.
