Council Approves Property Acquisition For North East Remote Facility
The Raleigh City Council voted unanimously at its Nov. 3 meeting to acquire 19.4 acres that will be the site of the City’s North East Remote Operations Facility. The acquisition also includes related improvements of approximately 115,000 square feet.
The City is purchasing the land at 3222 and 3228 Spottswood Street and at 7704 and 7708 Burwell Street. The cost of the land and related improvements is $6.05 million.
The property will house a portion of the field operations offices for the City of Raleigh’s Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments. It also will include facilities to support the City’s Street Maintenance Division and vehicle fueling and servicing operations, among other purposes. The new location of these facilities will allow the City to realize fuel savings because of more efficient dispatching of personnel to areas requiring service. The North East Remote Operations Facility is part of a larger effort by the City to house service employees closer to their routes and other related facilities.
