Medal of Arts Awards

Medal of Arts

Some of Raleigh’s greatest resources are the individuals who shape and form the way our city grows. For over twenty years, the city and the Arts Commission have had the honor of recognizing those who create the vibrant arts community that our residents and visitors enjoy.

Award Ceremony

The 24th Annual Raleigh Medal Of Arts Awards Presentation will be held October 8, 2008.

City Announces 2007 Winners Of Medal Of Arts

The 2006 recipients are:

Karen Edwards - Artistic Director

Karen Edwards

Artistic Director, Concert Dancers of Raleigh

Through her tireless volunteering and a commitment to teaching, Edwards reaches out to most every segment of the arts community. Her devotion to sharing the arts can be seen in her current role as artistic director of the Concert Dancers of Raleigh, where she teaches young dancers ages nine through eighteen about the joy and rigors of professional dance.

Anne Roberts Packer - Volunteer Extraordinaire

Anne Roberts Packer

Volunteer Extraordinaire

Anne Roberts Packer is the name that races to minds of supporters and organizers of various arts programs in Raleigh. What Packer supports is plentiful: the North Carolina Symphony, the North Carolina Symphony League, the Carolina Ballet, the North Carolina Museum of Art, and the Raleigh Fine Arts Society. In these organizations, her work as a tireless volunteer and supporter is not always seen by the general public.

Dr. Randolph Foy - Music Director/Conductor

Dr. Randolph Foy

Music Director/Conductor, Raleigh Civic Chamber Orchestra and Raleigh Civic Symphony Association

Inspiring musicians and audiences is what Dr. Foy is known for around the Raleigh Civic Symphony Association and the Raleigh Civic Chamber Orchestra. As music director and conductor of classical music, Foy puts together innovative concert series of lesser-known orchestral music for the enjoyment of the community as well as the players in these two groups.
