Arts Commission Information and Members
An advisory board for the arts to promote, coordinate and strengthen public programs to further cultural development in the city. Established in 1977, the City of Raleigh Arts Commission (CORAC) serves as the official municipal advisory body and advocate for Raleigh's arts. Commission members are appointed by City Council. CORAC manages the City Arts Grants Program, providing grant funding through a competitive process to local arts organizations each year. CORAC's efforts have been pivotal in creating Arts Access, the Artsplosure festival, Artspace and the Contemporary Art Museum. Created by City Ordinance (1977) 578 adopted 7/5/77; Effective 8/2/77, 16 members appointed by City Council. Commission Meetings are scheduled for the second (2nd) Tuesday of each month.
Meeting Dates
Arts Commission meetings are held in Room 305 of the Municipal Building at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. The 2008 meetings are listed below:
