Special Load Pickup
Special collections of trash not normally collected by Solid Waste Services (such as appliances, furniture, carpeting, etc.) may be arranged for a fee of $50. Special Load Pickup is not available for rocks, dirt, building materials, loose leaves, tree limbs larger than five feet long and six inches in diameter, car parts or stumps. Additional items not accepted for Special Load Pick Up include tires, chemicals and paints. Debris resulting from work done by a contractor will not be collected. This service is a residential service and not available to businesses or commercial entities.
Each Special Load Collection is limited to four (4) cubic yards, which is equivalent to filling the bed of a standard-sized pickup truck.
When preparing the materials for collection, please separate items into like piles (i.e. appliances together, brush all together, etc.). Please do not place yard waste in plastic bags or cans; they will not be emptied by the Special Load collection crew. Help the crew work efficiently by placing yard waste in biodegradable paper bags, (available at local hardware stores). Tree limbs do not need to be tied; simply pile them at the curb.
Place all items at the curb, not in the street. Be sure the items are clear of overhead utility lines, utility poles, guide wires, sign posts and utility boxes.

Are your items in useable, working condition? The City of Raleigh supports reuse of items over disposal. If you have items someone else may be able to use, please consider visiting the City's Swap Shop, conducting a yard sale, or donating items to a local charity. Reuse extends both the life of the item and the life of the landfill.
*** Save time and spread the green word! Pick one green item per year - a water bottle, a coffee mug, cloth napkins, grocery totes, etc. - and get that item for everybody on your birthday list. Voila! A year's worth of shopping all done in one fell swoop and all those folks helping to pass on a new green message! ***
