How to Become a Community Producer
RTN offers adult Raleigh residents complete professional training in all areas of studio and field production, including graphics, lighting, audio, teleprompter and editing. Classes are taught by RTN staff and other industry professionals who are qualified to teach proper production techniques and procedures. RTN production classes are designed to instruct and fully prepare each student to use the new digital production studio and non-linear editing systems with confidence and skill, enabling them to create and produce their own television programs.
GETTING STARTED:
Orientation: The orientation workshop is the first step in becoming a certified community producer. In the workshop, potential community producers and users are introduced to the policies and procedures and given a tour of the facility. Registration is on a first come first serve non-discriminatory basis. RTN reserves the right to cancel and/or reschedule classes/workshops for another time. Download and complete this RTN Access Information form (.doc) or RTN Access Information form (pdf) and bring with you on the day of the orientation. You may also fax a copy to our office at (919) 831-6877. For individuals planning to use the studio facilities for producing a stuido program, you will need a crew of certified volunteers to assist with the production. A minimum of five individuals is recommended and they should attend the orientation with you as part of your production team.
