Claims are processed and adjusted through a Third Party Administrator.
Workers' Compensation
Claims are processed and adjusted through the City of Raleigh Insurance Office Staff.
Safety/Loss Control
The City of Raleigh Safety Program is administered by the City's Safety Officer within the Personnel Department of the City.
Risk Financing
The City protects itself from potential losses through a combination of self-insured retention and purchase of commercial insurance for primary and/or excess coverage.
Insurance Coverages:
Liability: The City self-insures the first $1,000,000 per occurrence, with excess coverage of $10,000,000 per occurrence and an annual aggregate stop-loss of $3,000,000 purchased through the private sector.
Workers' Compensation: The City self-insures the first $500,000 per occurrence, with excess coverage of $1,000,000 purchased through the private sector.
Property: The City self-insures the first $100,000, with excess coverage up to the replacement value purchased through the private sector.
Medical and Dental Health: The City has established an insurance trust as a self-insurance fund to pay the claims of City employees, retirees and their covered dependents.
