Water Pollution


Water pollution is a growing problem in Raleigh and one of the larger contributors is illegal dumping into the stormwater drainage system that feeds our creeks, rivers, ponds, and lakes.  The illegal dumping of paint, detergent, oil, or other pollutants is called an illicit discharge.  The City’s Stormwater Management Division works to improve surface water quality by enforcing the City’s ordinance against illicit discharges.  Below are some examples of illicit discharges that the City has eliminated.
