Last week, the City joined partners to break ground on Parkside Apartments, another piece of the affordable housing puzzle.
In November of 2023, the City acquired this land using affordable housing bond funds. Now, this new community is set to have 144 apartments. Its location at 1327 and 1329 Kent Road, near Western Boulevard, will put families close to jobs, schools, public transportation, and other important services.
The project is a partnership between the City of Raleigh and Wake County. The City invested approximately $6 million, alongside $5.7 million invested from Wake County. When it is finished, Parkside Apartments will offer:
- 36 one-bedroom apartments
- 60 two-bedroom apartments
- 48 three-bedroom apartments
All of the apartments will be for families earning between 30% and 80% of the median income for the area. For a family of four, this is between about $35,100 and $93,600 per year.
The plans promise more help for those with the greatest need—65 apartments will be for families earning half the median income or less, and about 43 units will be for individuals with disabilities.
Families living at Parkside Apartments will also be able to enjoy a fitness center, playground, gazebo, outdoor grilling areas, a business center, and a room for community events.
Parkside Apartments is close to downtown Raleigh, public transportation, NC State University, and major job centers, making this a bustling and well-rounded community.
Construction is expected to finish in 2026. The City of Raleigh is proud to support more affordable housing and help build strong, welcoming neighborhoods where everyone has a place to call home.
