- Council accepted a federal grant offer of $15 million from the FAA to the RDU Airport Authority. The funding will be used for costs related to the design and construction of the Replacement Runway 5L-23R project at RDU Airport. Read about this grant offer.
- Council accepted a $1,000,000 grant from the USDA Forest Service Urban & Community Forestry Program to support tree maintenance, planting, and removal of hazardous trees in Federally identified underserved census tracts in Raleigh. Read about this grant.
- Council authorized the City Manager to execute a contract of up to $1,013,944 for asphalt rejuvenating services in Raleigh. This process extends the life of streets and has shown a 376% improvement in mitigating reflected heat energy, lessening the urban heat island effect. Read about this funding.
- Council authorized speed limit reductions from 35 mph to 25 mph on Booker Drive, Boone Trail, Como Drive, Sunglow Lane, Wallingford Drive, and multiple streets in the Abbington Ridge subdivision. Read about speed limit reductions.
- On a 5-2 vote, Council approved a motion to move forward with four-year staggered terms and a non-partisan primary and election method beginning in 2026. Read about these election changes.
- Council authorized staff to create an Unsheltered Homelessness Response Pilot program ($5,000,000) to respond to the increase in homeless camps and reduce unsheltered homelessness in the city. Read about this funding. The pilot will combine three strategies: direct-to-tenant housing assistance, homelessness system support, and coordinated community response. Additionally, the program will allocate funding to repair existing housing to provide more affordable housing options for people exiting camps.
